The Cooper School is an 11-18 comprehensive located in the northern side of Bicester. It was previously a community school, became a specialist science college in 2005 and converted to academy status on 1 July 2014.
In 2011 we opened a new sixth-form building and our sixth form continues to go from strength to strength, serving over 200 students each year.
We’ve recently introduced a new behaviour policy based on restorative practice, reflecting our belief that quality relationships and reflective actions should be at the heart of all that we do. We’ve also invested in SEND education, opening our new ACE centre to increase support as well as increasing our AP offer.
Our goal is to help every child reach their potential and to support them to overcome any barriers they might encounter. We are a truly inclusive school where our highly trained team of staff support, encourage and enable students to flourish and make great progress. We encourage students to ‘Dream Big, Work Hard and Be Kind’. To enable this we offer the broadest curriculum in the region, with specialist and experienced teachers in every subject. We then provide high levels of pastoral care, with multiple staff available to support, console, encourage and challenge as appropriate. Finally we provide stimulating lessons where students are challenged to be active learners and to follow high standards of behaviour.
