We are pleased to be able to announce that, after a lengthy and comprehensive recruitment process, we have successfully appointed a new permanent CEO to start with us on 1st January 2023.
Nathan Thomas will join Acer Trust from Academies Enterprise Trust where he currently works as a Regional Education Director overseeing several schools in the South of England and with a national portfolio for sixth form and careers. In the years prior to his current role, he gained extensive leadership experience in numerous schools, including successfully leading three schools as Headteacher and Executive Headteacher.
In his own words, he says, “I am passionate about education and the difference a good school experience can make to young people’s lives. And, from the moment I first stepped into an Acer school and met the students and staff I knew this was a child-centred and collaborative organisation, which shared my values and ethos. I am thrilled to be joining Acer at this hugely exciting time for the Trust and look forward to working together to deliver excellent education for all.”
In the meantime, we have Rob Shadbolt (Head at Wood Green School) and Mat Hunter (Head at Icknield Community College) jointly taking the CEO role from now until January splitting their time between their schools’ and the Trust. The Trust Board is grateful for their support and the additional activity of their Senior Leadership Teams throughout this time in leading both their schools and the Trust.
